NOTES:

- Torque all bolts from 95 - 105 ft., 120 - 142 Nm. Check all hardware after the first 4 - 6 hours of operation.

- If you have the ability to slide out the rotor about 4 feet it will make the installation much easier, as it will be easier to

reach the hardware location.

INSTRUCTION SHEET

Step 1

Remove existing Impeller Blades and all existing hardware as per Owner's

Manual. Do not re-use hardware.

Step 2

Remove 3/4" x 4 1/2" pin from cast iron hub, and replace with the 3/4" x 3"

solid pin (RFAFX8016). This will insure that the center shaft does not move

when a gear puller is used to pull the cast hub off. Make sure the pin is in far

enough that it will not catch on the hub. See Figure 1.

Step 3

Check to ensure that the four impeller blade mounting brackets are straight.

Straighten if necessary, as this is extremely important! See Figure 2.

Step 4

Clean off any burrs or rust from the 3 1/4" pipe that the cast hub was on.

See Figure 3.

Step 5

Install AFX cone mounting bridges (RFAFX8022). See Figure 4 & Note below.

Mounting bridges are notched I through IIII, and must be installed in this order.

Be sure to match these marks correctly. See Figure 5.

This ensures that the pin and the cone will install properly. See Figure 6.

NOTE: Bridge I goes to the left of the pinhole when looking towards rotor.

See Figure 6.

Take bridges I & II and bolt them together onto the rotor, using

1/2" x 1 1/2" Grade 8 serrated flange bolts. Install bridge III by bolting onto II

and the rotor, and install IIII by bolting onto III & I. Tighten bolts by working in

a counter clockwise direction. When tightening bolts, be sure bridges are

pushed back and against the rotor as far as possible.

Step 6

Replace 3/4" x 3" solid pin, with 3/4" x 3" hollow pin (RFAFX8017), so you can

see when the holes line up with rotor tube hole. Then slide the AFX cone

(RFAFX8021) onto the rotor, aligning the I - IIII notches on the cone with the

notches on the bridges. See Figure 7.

Step 7

Install the pusher assembly (RFAFX8023) to the front of the rotor shaft. Slide

the 5/8" threaded rods through the pusher plate, install the flat washers and nuts

onto the threaded rods, and screw the assembly into the threaded holes at front

of the AFX cone. Use the existing bolt to mount pusher assembly to the front of

the rotor shaft. See Figure 8.

Step 8

Slide cone until you can loosely install all 12 - 1/2" x 1 1/4" Grade 8 serrated

flange bolts. Using the pusher assembly, push the cone until the front is flush

with the 3 1/4" pipe on the rotor. See Figure 9.

Step 9

Replace the 3/4" x 3" hollow pin with the 3/4" x 11 1/2" pin (RFAFX8018),

tightening with 2 - 12" x 1 1/4" Grade 8 serrated flange bolts. Be sure the hole

in AFX cone lines up with hole in 3 1/4" rotor pipe.

Step 10

Tighten cone with 1/2" x 1 1/4" serrated flange bolts. Tighten the center bolts

on each section first, then the side bolts. See Figure 10.

Step 11

Install AFX blades (BKAFX238801) to the front of strip of the cone using

1/2" x 1 3/4" Grade 8 bolts. Install the first two bolts with the head on the back

side of mounting strip, and the hardened washer and locknut on the front side

of the blade. See Figure 11 & 12.

Install the remaining bolts with the head on front side of the blade. Use the 1/2"

hardened washers on the bolt head side, and the 1/2" flat washers and locknuts

on the back. See Figure 11 & 12.
